After a poor run of form in international cricket during the past few years, Indian team's seasoned opener KL Rahul has been under the scanner of many pundits and experts.

The right-hander has not been able to stay consistent for the side for the majority of his career which has made many question his place in the side and the latest to join the wagon is a former pacer, Venkatesh Prasad.

Prasad, a veteran of 292 international wickets called out the selectors for favouring Rahul and not dropping him for an in-form domestic player such as Sarfaraz Khan in his series of Tweets. He further tweeted on the point and mentioned that the Lucknow Super Giants' captain has been nothing but ordinary.

"I have a lot of regard for KL Rahul’s talent and ability, but sadly his performances have been well below par. A test average of 34 after 46 tests and more than 8 years in international cricket is ordinary. Can’t think of many who have been given so many chances,"

Moreover, the 53-year-old lambasts him by adding that he has been "consistently inconsistent" throughout his career.

"Rahul’s selection is not based on performance but favouritism. Has been consistently inconsistent and for someone who has been around for 8 years not converted potential into performances. One of the reasons why many ex-cricketers aren’t vocal despite seeing such favouritism."

Rahul once again disappointed everyone as he could only manage 20 runs during the one innings he got to bat in the first Test against Australia which India won. The second game will be played from 17th February in Delhi.
