The highly anticipated SA20 Final match between Pretoria Capitals and Sunrisers Eastern Cape, slated to take place on February 11 at the Wanderers, has been postponed due to unfavourable weather conditions and a waterlogged field.

Despite extensive preparations, the pitch has been under covers for three days and the relentless precipitation of over 200 millimetres since Wednesday has left the ground in an unplayable state. As per the latest reports from the South African Weather Service, the prospects for Saturday are not particularly promising, with additional showers expected throughout the day.

Nevertheless, there is light at the end of the tunnel, with clearer weather predicted for Sunday, the reserve day for the match. Consequently, the fixture has been rescheduled for 5:00 PM (IST) on February 12.

SA20 League Commissioner, Graeme Smith in a statement

“We’ve engaged the match officials, teams, groundsman, stakeholders and the SA Weather Service, and postponing the match is the best decision to allow for the possibility of a full match in drier conditions. We want to give the teams and spectators a memorable Final."

The gates for the match will be opened at 2:00 PM (IST), and all tickets previously purchased for the original date will remain valid for the rescheduled match. It is worth mentioning that the interest and anticipation for this match have been palpable, with tickets for the SA20 final selling out three weeks in advance.

This just goes to show the level of excitement and fervour surrounding this much-anticipated encounter, with fans eager to witness the apex of the competition and the crowning of the ultimate champion.
