After 32 gruelling games, the time has come for the grand finale of the SA20 competition

Two heavyweight teams will collide against each other as Pretoria Capitals (PC) go head-to-head against Sunrisers Eastern Cape (SEC) in the finals on Saturday, February 11.

The Capitals have been the standout team of the tournament, topping the group with seven victories out of 10. A formidable team having all the bases covered, the Capitals thumped Paarl Royals by 29 runs in the first semi-finals, and made a bold statement by winning the game comfortably.

In the semis, Rilee Rossouw was the star with the bat in a tricky situation, scoring a brisk 41-ball 56 and it eventually was the difference between the two sides.

Talking about the Sunrisers, it has been a topsy-turvy tournament for them. They finished at the third spot, with four wins out of five, but brought their best in the all-important semis against Joburg Super Kings.

Skipper Aiden Markram led from the front with a scintillating hundred that propelled a 14-run win in the end. SEC management will be hoping that Markram continues this rich vein of form in the finale as well.

Match Preview

Date and Time: February 11, 8 PM IST

Venue: The Wanderers, Johannesburg

Live Streaming: Sports18, Jio Cinema

Pitch Report

The tradition of Wanderers track is to offer assistance to the pacers. With the cool breeze going around, pace bowlers will enjoy bowling at this venue. Generally a fast and bouncy pitch, batters need to adjust before taking on the bowlers. 160-170 should be a good total on this surface.

Key Players

  • Aiden Markram: The leading run-scorer for SEC (340 runs), Markram scored a stellar century in the semis and will be the key player once again.
  • Anrich Nortje: Arguably one of the best T20 bowlers at the moment, Nortje is the leading wicket-taker in the competition (18 wickets), and SEC have to be wary of him.

Probable XI

PC: Kusal Mendis, Philip Salt, Senuran Muthusamy, Rilee Rossouw, Colin Ingram, Will Jacks, James Neesham, Theunis de Bruyn, Adil Rashid, Anrich Nortje, Eathan Bosch

SEC: Adam Rossington, Temba Bavuma, Jordan Hermann, Aiden Markram, Jordan Cox, Tristan Stubbs, Marco Jansen, Sisanda Magala, Roelof van der Merwe, Brydon Carse, Ottniel Baartman

Prediction

In the two games played between the two champion teams so far, Pretoria Capitals have had the advantage, winning both the encounters. As a result, they have a psychological advantage heading into the grand finale. Capitals should win this game.
