Former New Zealand batter Amy Satterthwaite has decided to call time over her domestic career at end of this season. Satterthwaite playing for Canterbury will make her last T20 appearance in the upcoming Super Smash final against Wellington Blaze on Saturday.
This will be Satterthwaite's 105th match for Canterbury, who will continue to feature in the Hallyburton Johnstone Shield (HJS) until the end of the season.
The Christchurch-born will hope to end her T20 career with a sixth Super Smash title.
As per stuff.co.nz, the 36-year-old sounded excited to move on to the next chapter of her life.
Here's what Satterhwaite said
“I don’t know if it has [hit home], to be honest. I have the odd moment, I’m probably waiting for it to hit me a little bit more. Maybe having the HBJ still up our sleeves and knowing I’ve got cricket left doesn’t make it quite feel like the end just yet, but it’s a funny one, a funny feeling.
Because it’s been going well, there’s an element of not wanting it to finish, but then I’m excited for the next chapter."
Satterthwaite announced her shock retirement from international cricket in May last year after facing a contract snub from New Zealand Cricket.
Her first coaching assignment was with the Adelaide Strikers in the Women's Big Bash League (WBBL).
