Mark Waugh criticises David Warner following Nagpur failure

Veteran Australian batter David Warner recorded another failure with the bat on Indian soil, being dismissed for just one by Mohammed Shami on the opening day of the first Test in Nagpur. 

Getting out cheaply is one thing, but how Warner was beaten comprehensively by Mohammed Shami's sharp incoming delivery became the talk of the town. 

Meanwhile, legendary former Australian opener Mark Waugh has slammed Warner for his poor outing. 

Speaking to the broadcasters Star Sports, Waugh reckoned accused the veteran opener of being under-confident. However, he also credited Shami for bowling a ripper to execute that dismissal. 

"I think he has had a tough home summer. I thought he made a fantastic double ton at the MCG. But besides that, he has not made a lot of runs. There is an issue with his confidence. I feel like he is not watching the ball as closely as he can. I am not sure if he is looking for the short ball or something else. You have to give it to Shami. That was an excellent ball. I think Warner thought it would leave him but it came at an angle. Top ball."

India have already pushed Australia on the back foot in the first Test, dismissing them for a paltry 177 in the first innings. As of writing, the hosts are 54 for no loss in 15.4 overs.
