Watch: Steve Smith's shocking reaction after getting knocked over by Jadeja

Ravindra Jadeja made his long awaited return in the Indian squad after a lengthy layoff due to knee injury. He made an instant impact with the ball and made the Aussie batters danced to his beats, picking up 5 for 47 to rattle the Aussies.

After early wickets of David Warner and Usman Khawaja, the ever dependent duo of Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne resurrected the Aussie innings and kept on building pressure on the Indian bowlers. Jadeja, arguably the best bowler for India on day one, broke the resistance with an away drifter.

Labuschagne went chasing at that delivery and lost his balance as KS Bharat dislodged the bails in a flash. He followed it up with the wicket of Matt Renshaw on the very next ball to open the game up.

But the best of the lot was yet to come. Smith, who was playing so well on 37, was knocked over by a Jadeja special. Smith was playing for the turn, but the ball came back in with the angle and sneaked through the bat-pad gap to castle the stumps.

This peach of a delivery left Smith in a state of shock.

Talking about the game, Australia were bundled out for a mere 177 in their first innings, courtest of a fifer by Jadeja, and three wickets from R Ashwin.
