Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma share a lighter moment [Source: Twitter]
Much has been written and said in the past about the alleged rift between former India captain Virat Kohli and current skipper Rohit Sharma. Both players have categorically denied any such rumours over the years and were recently seen embracing each other in Nagpur ahead of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023.
However, former India fielding coach R Sridhar, in his book, revealed how former India coach Ravi Shastri told both players to bury the hatchet, keeping in mind Indian cricket.
Sridhar said how the Indian team was divided into Kohli and Sharma camps, respectively.
The said incident took place after India's semi-final loss against New Zealand at the 2019 World Cup in England, during the West Indies T20I series.
Here's what Sridhar wrote
"We landed in the United States (US) some 10 days after the World Cup for a T20 series against West Indies in Lauderhill. One of the first things Ravi did on arrival was to call Virat and Rohit to his room and impress upon them that for Indian cricket to be healthy, they needed to be on the same page.
"Whatever happened on social media, that's all fine, but you two are the most senior cricketers so this must stop,' Ravi said in his typical no-nonsense manner. 'I want you to put all this behind and get together for us to move forward,"
Sridhar was quick to add that the relationship did not sour and both players started to bond better.
