Pakistan is all set to play a 3 match T20I series against Afghanistan in late March. The news was confirmed by Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Najam Sethi. PCB is looking to play the saviour for Afghanistan after Cricket Australia (CA) bailed on an ODI series against Afghanistan.

CA cited that Afghanistan's current ban on women and girl's education and employment was the reason for the team to withdraw from the series. Najam Sethi trying to save the day believes that playing with Pakistan will compensate Afghanistan from the loss.

Sethi also mentioned while addressing the media that the commercial yield from the series will be shared between the Afghanistan Cricket Board and the PCB.

The series was earlier planned to be an ODI contest but was changed to the shortest format of the game since both the teams had already qualified for the ICC 2023 ODI World Cup.

Najam Sethi announces T20I series against Afghanistan

“Pleased to announce PCB will play 3 T20s against Afghanistan in Sharjah end March to compensate Afghanistan following Australia’s pullout from bi lateral series against it.”

“I also supported ACC decision to grant Afghanistan equal share of ACC revenues like BCCI, PCB, SLC & BCB.” he remarked.

The series will take place at an offshore venue. There is also another 3-match ODI series scheduled between the two nations in August 2023.
