Ravindra Jadeja is set to make a comeback into the national side after more than five months. The cricketer last represented his country back during the 2022 Asia Cup in UAE. The star all-rounder is now part of the expanded Indian line-up for the all-important four-match home Test series against the Australians.

A few days prior to the commencement of the high-octane series, Jadeja has expressed his excitement of making a comeback into the Indian team.

While a knee injury kept Jadeja out of international action for five months, the senior player turned up for Saurashtra upon recovery. The 34-year-old also recently passed a fitness test, and has now shared his comeback story during an interview on BCCI.

“Excited that I'm wearing the Indian jersey after more than five months. I have been blessed that I got a chance again. The recovery journey was quite up and down because if you stay away from cricket for five months then it is a little bit frustrating. Obviously, I was eagerly waiting to attain fitness to play for India again,” he said.

He also praised the National Cricket Academy (NCA) for getting him back to full fitness before returning to action. The cricketer spent his rehabilitation time at the academy, where the trainers kept motivating him. He stated:

“The 2-month period after injury was tough. The NCA trainers kept me motivated at the NCA (during rehab) when my body was paining. They pushed me that 'do it for your country and not for you.”

The first Test between Australia and hosts India will commence on February 9 in Nagpur. The set of forthcoming matches marks as the final set of fixtures for both sides prior to the looming ICC World Test Championship final.
