Former Indian veteran seamer Jhulan Goswami, England World Cup-winning skipper Charlotte Edwards and former Indian international Devieka Palshikaar have joined the Mumbai Indians as coaches for the inaugural edition of Women's Premier League.

The legendary Indian seamer will be the MI team's bowling coach and mentor in WPL 2023; Edwards has joined as the Head Coach, while Palshikaar will serve as the batting coach of this side.

Co-owner of IPL's most successful team, Nita Ambani congratuated her team's latest hirings and said: "I am delighted to welcome Charlotte Edwards, Jhulan Goswami, and Devieka Palshikaar to the MI #OneFamily. It is wonderful to see more and more women in sport, excelling not just as players, but also as coaches, administrators, and support staff."

"This is an exciting time for women’s sport in India. Our female athletes have consistently made the nation proud on the international stage," she further added.

This assignment will be Goswami's first job, while the former England captain has coached a few teams across franchises across the globe since retiring in 2016.

Edwards has led her services to Southern Brave in the Hundred, Sydney Sixers in WBBL, and the Southern Vipers in English domestic circles.

Just like the former English stalwart, Palshikaar has some experience in coaching. She has worked as Assistant Coach with India and Bangladesh's women's teams.

Earlier in the week, the Gujarat Gitans also announced their panel of coaches, comprising the legendary Mithali Raj, Australia's Rachael Haynes, Nooshin Al Khadeer, Tushar Arothe and Gavan Twining.

There is no such official news out but the BCCI is planning to begin the league on March 4th, with the first match likely to be between Mumbai franchise and Gujarat Giants.

Furthermore, the board has invited all the franchises to complete the agreements that will see the sides getting finalised before auction could take place on 13th February in Mumbai.
