The buzz around BCCI's latest byproduct, the Women's Premier League (WPL), has already been at its peak. However, the Indian board is still to announce the dates for WPL auctions, schedule and other major happening related to the leagues.
However, teams have already begun the preparations in the backend. Adani Sportsline, who owns Gujarat Giants in WPL, has acquired the services of the legendary former Australian opener - Rachael Haynes, former Indian cricketers - Nooshin Al Khadeer and Tushar Arothe - and Gavan Twining.
Haynes will be the team's Head Coach this season, while the bowler coach's hat will be on Al Khadeer's head, Arothe has been brought in as the batting coach of the Giants, and Twining will be the fielding coach.
Earlier in the month, the franchise also penned a deal with the former Indian captain, Mithali Raj, to be the team's mentor.
While commenting on her new innings of life, Haynes said: "The Women’s Premier League is such an exciting addition to the cricket landscape."
"The opportunity to be involved in the inaugural season with the Adani Sportline and work with the brilliant Mithali Raj is something I’m really looking forward to. We have formed a wonderful coaching team, who will be bringing on board their rich experience which will help the team to play an exciting brand of cricket which our fans will enjoy watching," said Haynes.
The former Australian batter retired from the international sport in September last year, ending a 13-year-old prolific career after winning two World Cups, four T20 World Cups and the Commonwealth Games Gold medal with the mighty Australian team.
Al Khadeer, who coached the U19 Indian girls during their triumph in South Africa earlier this year, has played 85 international games for India as an off-spinner. Meanwhile, Arothe has represented Baroda in Indian domestic circles. Twining has been coaching state teams in Australia.
