After a lean three-year period, batting maestro Virat Kohli found form in the Asia Cup 2022 and has since registered four international centuries. In ODIs, Kohli (46) stands on the cusp of breaking Sachin Tendulkar's tally of 49 tons, while overall he is sitting in second position with 74.

Dutch all-rounder Roelef van der Merwe firmly believes that Kohli can surpass 100 international hundreds. Van der Merwe is currently playing in the SA20 League for Sunrisers Eastern Cape and is the tournament's leading wicket-taker (14).

The former South African player switched alliances and now plays his international cricket for the Netherlands.

Speaking to India Today, Van der Merwe, who played with Kohli during his time with Royal Challengers Bangalore, stated that Kohli is motivated enough to breach Tendulkar's record.

"I think Virat is a great player. Yes, I think he can do that. 100 hundreds, those things will be in the back of his mind. In India, following somebody like Sachin, it's a big deal. I think it will be in the back of his mind. He will be motivated to keep going."

Talking about his own cricket, the 38-year-old said the he loves playing cricket, and the urge to win keeps him going.  Overall, van der Merwe has played 16 ODIs and 52 T20Is for South Africa and Netherlands, combined.
