After defeating Sri Lanka and New Zealand convincingly in white-ball cricket, India are gearing up for a four-match home Test series against Australia starting next week.

Whenever India and Australia meet on a cricket field, legendary batter Virat Kohli becomes the centre of attraction. However, the former Indian captain had some serious issues against spin bowling on the recent Bangladesh tour, where he managed only 45 runs across four innings.

So, ahead of the Australia Tests, former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan has urged Kohli to adopt an aggressive approach to neutralise the spinners.

Speaking to Star Sports, Pathan reckoned that Kohli must come out of his shell and try to put pressure on Nathan Lyon and co in the series.

"The one thing he (Kohli) will be keeping in his mind is how he's going to counter the spin of Lyon as well as Agar. Because he has been struggling against spin specially and I think one thing he can do personally is to try and be a little more aggressive. I know we are talking about Test cricket here, but sometimes he must be slightly more aggressive against spin, it might make you better in that encounter when you're actually facing guys like Nathan Lyon."

Speaking of Kohli, the Delhi-born had a disastrous time with the bat when Australia last visited India in 2017, scoring only 46 runs in three Test matches. So, he would be keen to better his numbers against the mighty Aussies on home soil this time.
