Besides suffering a defeat in the third and final ODI, South Africa were penalised for maintaining a slow over-rate against England. Match officials found the Proteas team one over short in the stipulated time and fined 20 per cent of their match fees.

The Temba Bavuma-led side was also docked one point from the ongoing ICC World Cup Super League. On-field umpires Marais Erasmus and Allahudien Paleker, third umpire Adrian Holdstock, and fourth umpire Bongani Jele levelled charges, which Bavuma accepted without a hearing.

South Africa are currently placed ninth in the Super League standings with 78 points. West Indies continue to occupy the eighth position with 88 points to their tally. With tenth-placed Sri Lanka (77 points) slated to play three ODIs, the Proteas must win their remaining two fixtures to qualify for the World Cup directly.

On the other hand, England, who are third in the table with 135 points, have secured their qualification.

Overall, South Africa displayed excellent cricket across 3 ODIs to clinch the series 2-1. Their next ODI fixture will be against the Netherlands at home in March.
