There is some good news for South African white-ball skipper, Temba Bavuma. He will join Sunrisers Eastern Cape (SEC) for remainder of the SA20 season.

When the SA20 auctions took place in September, Bavuma was ignored by all the franchises, despite the fact that he captains the national side in the T20I format.

Heading into the ODI series against England, the South African skipper was under immense pressure to perform. He had an average T20 World Cup, and an ordinary Test series against Australia. However, the right-handed batter silenced his critics and was the star of the series for his side.

He slammed 180 runs in three matches, which included a stunning 109 in the second ODI. Moreover, we witnessed an aggressive Bavuma, who was not afraid to take on the English bowling attack.

Talking about the SA20 league, Sunrisers Eastern Cape are standing at the second position in the points tally, with 4 victories under their belt. The tournament was halted due to the South Africa-England ODI series, but will resume on February 2.

SEC will play their first match after resumption on February 3 against Durban Super Giants.
