England's Sam Curran has been fined 15 percent of his match fee and given one demerit point after he was found guilty of ''excessively celebrating" in the second One-Day International against South Africa on Sunday.

Curran after claiming South African skipper Temba Bavuma's wicket, who scored a match-winning 109, ran down towards him and celebrated rather aggressively on his dismissal.

Match referee Jeff Crowe, after a report was given to him by on-field umpires, charged the all-rounder, to which he admitted the offence, and hence no formal hearing was needed.

As per the ICC code of conduct, the former CSK player committed a level-one offence.

Here's what the ICC statement read

"Curran was found to have committed a level one offence of the ICC code of conduct when he "excessively celebrated towards and in close proximity to the dismissed batter, being an action which had the potential to provoke an aggressive reaction from Bavuma".

If Curran accumulates three more demerit points within the next 2-years, he could face a ban.

South Africa have gained an unassailable 2-0 lead in the 3-ODI series and will look to win and achieve a clean sweep when both sides clash in the third and final match today in Kimberly.

England, on the other hand, will want to avoid a whitewash and win their first match on the tour.
