After a historic media rights deal along with the sale of five franchises for the inaugural season of the Women's Premier League (WPL) to be held in March, the BCCI is considering holding the auction in the second week of February after initially planning it for the first week.

The dates being discussed are 11th and 13th of February, as the previously selected 6th isn't a viable option for many. The reason is that four of the five WPL franchise owners are also running their team in the International League T20 (ILT20) which is scheduled to end on 12th February.

MI Emirates, Sharjah Warriors, Gulf Giants and Dubai Capitals are the teams whose owners have conveyed it to the BCCI regarding their unavailability for the auction during the first week of the month as they would be involved in the knockouts.

The BCCI is still pondering over the decision of selecting a venue with Delhi, Mumbai and Ahmedabad emerging as the top contenders to hold the auction. Moreover, all these details are still in talks as they have not made anything official to anyone but some sources reveal the informal talks.

A franchise representative was quoted as saying,

"The BCCI is discussing the dates but February 11 (Saturday) and 13 (Monday) have been shortlisted. February 13 will be a convenient date for most franchises."

Further, the official from the board confirmed the development stating,

"We need to give the teams time to plan for the auction."

All in all, the 13th is considered to be the most suitable day with Mumbai being the destination as the final call to be taken in the upcoming days.
