Australia, under Meg Lanning, will begin their T20 World Cup title defense in the upcoming ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2023 starting next month. Ahead of their opening encounter against neighbours New Zealand on February 11, the Lanning-led side received encouraging news about star wicket-keeper Alyssa Healy's return.

Healy on Sunday evening revealed she is confident about making a full recovery from injury ahead of Australia's clash at Boland Park against the White Ferns.

The 32-year-old injured herself during Australia's white-ball tour of India last month and missed the Pakistan limited-overs series at home as well.

According to The West Australia, Healy also said that she has registered for the upcoming Women's Premier League, and hopes to be part of the five-team competition.

“I feel like I've been doing six weeks of prep for this night in heels. I’m feeling really good, ticking all the boxes. I’ll be definitely right to go for that first game and hopefully get some games in before then.

I’ve absolutely hated every minute. I hated watching the cricket on the TV; I couldn’t be a part of any of the cricket. It’s a lesson for me to make sure I’m looking after myself moving forward if I want to be a part of stuff,"

Australia are placed in Group A alongside New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and hosts South Africa.
