Riding on Mahedi Hasan's spectacular all-round show, Rangpur Riders defeated Dhaka Dominators by five wickets in the 29th match of the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League. The Riders equalled their points tally with the Comilla Victorians with this astounding victory.

Usman Ghani's fifty powers Dhaka to a fighting total

After being put into bat, Dhaka Dominators had a disastrous start to their innings, as Azmatullah Omarzai quickly removed Mizanur Rahman and Soumya Sarkar cheaply.

Soon, Mahedi Hasan cleaned up Alex Blake, leaving the Dominators reeling at 28 for three in five overs.

However, Usman Ghani hammered a counter-attacking 55-ball 73*, helping the Dominators resurrect their innings. Getting ample support from Mohammad Mithun and Nasir Hossain, Ghani propelled the Dominators to a respectable 144 in 20 overs.

Omarzai emerged as the most successful bowler for the Riders, scalping two wickets for 27 runs.

Mahedi Hasan blitz helps Rangpur ace the chase

Chasing 145, Rangpur Riders had a horrible start to their innings, as Salman Irshad trapped Mohammad Naim plumb in front of the stumps for nought.

However, Rony Talukdar and Mahedi Hasan stitched a match-winning 63-run stand for the second wicket. While Talukdar contributed 29 runs, Mahedi hammered 72 runs laced with six fours and five sixes.

Although they had a mini collapse, Mohammad Nawaz and Omarzai remained unbeaten to help the Riders accomplish the chase with an over to spare.
