Riding on a record breaking day with the bat,  followed by a dominating performance with the ball MI Emirates thrashed Desert Vipers in Match 21 of the ongoing International League T20 (ILT20).

MI Emirates skittles Vipers for 84

Chasing a mammoth 242, Desert Vipers got off to a very poor start as the table-toppers were nothing but reckless with their approach in the powerplay and wickets started to fall like ninepins. Colin Munro’s men were reduced to 47 for six at the end of the powerplay.

The game was all done inside the powerplay and Desert Vipers went on to get bowled out for 84. Fazalhaq Farooqi, who was having a below average tournament with the ball, did the major damage and bagged three wickets in the powerplay.

MI Emirates have improved their NRR massively, while Desert Vipers would be disappointed going forward, due to the kind of dent this game has put on their NRR.

MI Emirates recorded highest team total of the tournament

Earlier, after being put into bat, MI Emirates went all guns blazing and posted a mammoth 241 for three, the highest team total in the ILT20. Mohammad Waseem got off to a scintillating start and went on to score 86 in just 44 balls. Andrew Fletcher, who played second fiddle to Waseem, completed his half century as well and the opening pair added a massive 141 for the first wicket.

However, Desert Vipers managed to cease the run-flow for a couple of overs, taking three quick wickets but Kieron Pollard, at four continued the onslaught and smashed a 19-ball fifty. Dan Mousley, who was making his debut also contributed with a brilliant 17-ball 31 cameo.

The star from Vipers’ last game, Tom Curran and Matheesha Pathirana, got smacked all around the park as the pace duo gave 121 runs off their combined eight overs.
