In what was a run-fest at Bloemfontein, South Africa chased down a mighty total of 343 to take the series and earn some crucial ODI Super League points.

England's batting firepower piles up runs

Put into bat, England lost last match's centurion Jason Roy and Dawid Malan early inside the first seven overs with score being 33. The visitors lost third at 82, however, after that it was Harry Brook and skipper Jos Buttler show who formed a 73-run stand to get the score past 150.

Brook thumped a powerful 80 while Buttler stayed till the end to make sure they cross 342 with help from southpaw Moeen Ali who played 44-ball 51 run knock in the end. Sam Curran gave the finishing blows as he scored 28 from 17 balls with three sixes and a four.

Anrich Nortje bagged two wickets whereas rest of the bowlers grabbed one each. The pitch looked an easy one to bat on as scoring wasn't the problem.

Chasing 343, the Proteas got into an early partnership between Quinton de Kock and Temba Bavuma to give them a solid start as they lost their first wicket on the score of 77. However, this didn't have any impact on the home side's skipper who batted with some grit to ensure he plays a crucial knock.

Everyone who came played decently and none of the batters in the side returned with disappointment as they were too good with the bat. Bavuma was the highest scorer with a marvellous 109 while right-hander Aiden Markram impressed with his 49.

In the end, David Miller (58*) and Marco Jansen (32*) gave the finishing touch with a solid 65-run stand for the sixth wicket to seal the game for the Proteas. English bowlers apart from Olly Stone and Adil Rashid couldn't do much as both of them could only disrupt two batters each.

Furthermore, this match was England's fifth consecutive loss in the ODI format after previously getting whitewashed against Australia.

England: 342-7 (50 Overs)
