Perth Scorchers seamer, Jason Behrendorff says he's feeling for fellow teammate Jhye Richardson, who is all set to miss the BBL final due to an injury.

Scorchers skipper, Ashton Turner revealed that Richardson, who suffered a hamstring injury at the start of the month has a 'slim chance' to play in the finals, despite initial hopes that he'll make it through by the time finale comes up.

Behrendorff has been in a similar situation way back in 2017, when a back injury forced him to miss the finals. Interestingly, Richardson took his spot that day and delivered a Player of the Match performance to steer Scorchers to their third title.

“I really feel for Richo because I’ve been in that position as well,” Behrendorff said.

“I’ve missed finals through injury, it’s really tough. We’re all really bad at watching and my heart goes out to him for sure.

“He’s been really good around the group and doing everything he can to get back but a hamstring injury in a short tournament like this when there’s games every couple of days is really hard to get back for, so I really feel for him.”

Perth Scorchers have arguably been the best side of the tournament. They finished as the table topper and will start as the favourites when the finale arrives on Saturday.
