India's ace off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has heaped praise on Indian pacer, Mohammed Siraj, saying that he has been outstanding with the ball.

Siraj's comeback story is nothing short of a fairytale. From being trolled by fans for not his poor returns in IPL to becoming the No.1 bowler in ODIs, the Hyderabad-pacer has come a long way.

Notably, Siraj has been sensational with the ball for team India in the one year or so. The 28-year-old pacer was India’s leading wicket-taker in ODI cricket in the year 2022, and he has kicked off 2023 in a similar fashion.

He has made his critics sit up and take notice of his remarkable rise in white-ball cricket. In the absence of Jasprit Bumrah, Siraj has spearheaded the pace bowling department of India.

Having been impressed by one of India's most consistent fast bowlers, India's premier Test cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin hailed Siraj for his sensational run in the ODIs.

"He has been outstanding. His attitude and the way he showed composure during the Michael Bracewell-Mitchell Santner onslaught turned the game in India’s favour,”  said Ravichandran Ashwin on his YouTube Channel.

The right-arm pacer scalped up five wickets in two matches in the recently concluded ODI series against New Zealand. This helped him to displace Australia's Josh Hazlewood to become the third Indian pacer to achieve the number 1 ranking in ODIs after Kapil Dev and Jasprit Bumrah.
