Sydney Sixers cricketer Jordan Silk broke into an elusive list of batters on Saturday as he went past the 2000-run mark in the Big Bash League (BBL).

Silk became the 15th batter in the tournament's history to achieve the milestone as he played an upper cut off a David Payne delivery in the 17th over of the innings.

He is also Sydney Sixers' top-scorer of the season, having accumulated 353 runs in 13 innings.

Coming into the match versus Perth Scorchers, the 30-year-old needed 40 more runs to make it to the landmark figure.

Not only Silk's unbeaten 34-ball 47 assured that he acquired the achievement, his knock also helped the Sixers in setting-up a fighting total of 151.

In the Qualifier of the 2022-23 BBL, Sydney Sixers, after deciding to bat first, did not get the best of the starts, reeling at 42/3 in the ninth over.

However, Silk and Moises Henriques' 88-run stand pushed them back on track as the partnership stitched a recovery for Sydney.

However, riding on Ashton Turner's flamboyant 47-ball 84*, Perth Scorchers chased the total of 152 runs successfully with nine balls to spare.
