Usman Khawaja is pondering over playing in Brisbane Heat's next knockout game on Sunday as the India tour is just around the corner.

Khawaja was the star of the show on Friday, as he scored a blistering 94 off 55 balls and knocked out Sydney Thunder out of the competition. But now he's weighing up the decision to play in the next game against Melbourne Renegades on Sunday.

The Australian squad is set to fly out to India next week, and Khawaja wants to mentally prepare himself for a tough tour of the subcontinent.

"I haven't thought that far ahead if I'm being honest," Khawaja told media.

"We're obviously going away for six-and-a-half weeks, my family is coming over for the AB Medal that's happening on the 30th. There's a lot happening right now.

"I'll have to talk to coach about it first and see what he can do."

Brisbane Heat were at their imperial best against Thunder and Khawaja's absence could be a huge blow if the southpaw decides to sit out of the game.

Australia's tour of India begins on February 9, with the first Test match taking place in Nagpur.
