Former India pacer Ashish Nehra expects Surya Kumar Yadav to become a success for India across formats in time to come. Yadav was recently awarded the ICC T20I Men's Cricketer of the Year 2022 slamming 1,1164 with two hundred and nine fifties.

However, the Mumbai Indians batter has faced flak for poor outings in the one-day internationals against New Zealand and is also included in India's squad for the first two Tests against Australia.

Nehra, who coached the Gujarat Titans to their maiden Indian Premier League (IPL) in their inaugural season, in an interview to ICC, said that Yadav has all the ingredients to make it big and maintain pressure on others for a place in the XI.

Here's what Nehra said

"Let's hope that he shows this form across formats because he certainly has the capability. He has played a few one-day games, but if he continues to perform at the level he is, it will naturally form a place for him in the XI. So if players are pushed to their limit with such performances, either they have to raise the bar or Suryakumar is always there to take place,

It is not surprising at all. This is such a Surya (Sun) that has shone consistently if you talk about the past year or two. Hopefully, he can carry this on because the kind of consistency that he has shown at such a high strike rate has been sensational."

Known as SKY, the star batter will take field in Ranchi on Friday against New Zealand in first T20I.
