After an inspiring debut for England during the tour of Pakistan, youngster Rehan Ahmed is expected to be the prime spinner for the side in upcoming years predicts former cricketer Monty Panesar.

Veteran of 167 Test wickets, Panesar believes that he could be utilized for a bigger role during their upcoming series under the leadership of Ben Stokes and Brendon McCullum. He further mentioned that if Jack Leach is not at his best, he could straightway come in and fill his void.

"England had done so well in Pakistan that they had a luxury Test match to have a look at him and he did really well,

"He performed well and he showed his credentials. I don't know if he will play regularly, but he will go on trips and if Jack Leach is unable to perform then they've got someone there in Rehan Ahmed,"

Moreover, he went ahead and made a strong comparison with premier spinner Rashid Khan, speaking that his demand is expected to grow up in coming time. However, he would have to be careful as his workload might turn out to be an issue.

"Because he's playing a lot of franchise cricket at the moment and doing really well in the ILT20 in Dubai, that demand and earning potential means we may just see him as a second spinner in Test cricket but he ends up becoming similar to someone like Rashid Khan."

Rehan Ahmed is currently a part of the ILT20 league happening in UAE where he is representing Gulf Giants.
