South African fast bowler Anrich Nortje is excited to work with Shukri Conrad who is the Proteas' new permanent Test coach in the upcoming ODI series at home against England.

Cricket South Africa (CSA) has appointed Rob Walter as Proteas' new white-ball coach but he will be unavailable for the home series against England.

Recently-appointed Proteas Test coach Conrad will oversee preparations as Walter will only return to South Africa from New Zealand on the day of the third ODI. It'll be an uphill task to beat the number 2 ranked ODI team in the world.

Nortje, who is the second-highest wicket-taker of the ongoing SA20 league 2023 with 13 wickets, is keen to learn from the interim head coach Conrad in the three-match series against the three-lions.

"I haven't worked with him before, so [I'm] excited to see what he's going to bring to the table. It's going to be hard. It's literally in and out again, so there's not a lot of time to try and change things. But I'm really looking forward to it and seeing what we can expect when we get there,"  said Anrich Nortje.

South Africa plays England in a three-match ODI series set to take place between January 27 to February 1, 2023.
