Riding on Fawad Ahmed's spectacular three-for and Aaron Finch's composed half century, Melbourne Renegades defeated Adelaide Strikers by six wickets in the 54th match of the Big Bash League 2022-23.

Strikers post a modest total despite Carey's fighting knock

After being put into bat, Adelaide Strikers got off to an undesirable start, losing Matthew Short for a duck. Travis Head managed a sloth-paced 32-ball 19, before being dismissed by Fawad Ahmed in the ninth over.

Ahmed weaved his magic two more times, removing Colin de Grandhomme and Ryan Gibson for single-digit scores.

Although Alex Carey smashed 65 runs off 47 balls, he lacked support at the other end, as the visitors could post 142 in 20 overs.

Finch and Critchley ensure an easy win for the Renegades

Chasing 143, Melbourne Renegades had a disastrous start to their innings, losing their top three for single digit scores.

However, skipper Aaron Finch and Matthew Critchley executed a commendable resurrection, stitching a match-winning 69-run stand for the fourth wicket.

After Critchley was run out in the 12th over, Jon Wells assisted Finch to perfection, as the duo ensured the Renegades chased the total without any further hiccups.
