Two Indians included as ICC announces ODI team of 2022

In a remarkable turn of events, the International Cricket Council has announced the Men's ODI team of the year 2022. 

Babar Azam has been picked as the leader of the side, while Shreyas Iyer and Mohammed Siraj are the only two Indians to make the cut. 

Australian batter Travis Head and West Indies keeper-batter Shai Hope have been chosen as the openers of the side. While Head had an outstanding home season, garnering 550 runs at an average of 68.75, Hope showcased his consistency in the 50-over format, amassing  709 runs, including three hundreds and two fifties. 

Shreyas Iyer enjoyed stellar success in ODIs, finishing the year as India's top-scorer in the format with 724 runs at an incredible average of 55.69. He has been trusted to shoulder batting responsibilities in the middle order alongside Babar Azam (679 runs at 84.87) and Tom Latham (558 runs at 55.80). 

Zimbabwean sensation Sikandar Raza, who had two phenomenal home series against Bangladesh and India, is slotted at six, with Bangladesh's Mehidy Hasan Miraz, pivotal in Bangaldesh's historic ODI series win versus India, following him at number 7. 

Adam Zampa, who scalped 30 ODI wickets in 2022, has been included as the lone spinner. At the same time, Mohammed Siraj (24 wickets at 23.50), Alzarri Joseph (27 wickets) and Trent Boult (18 wickets) constitute the pace bowling unit.
