Australia's dynamic wicketkeeper-batter Alyssa Healy thinks the inaugural edition of the Women's IPL will change women's cricket for the better moving forward.

Healy, who is nursing an injury, has been selected for Australia's title defence in the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2023, despite missing the home white-ball series against Pakistan.

Speaking to ESPN Cricinfo, she said that the craze for the men's IPL in India is immense, and  expects people to support the WIPL.

Here's what Healy said

"The Women's IPL] is going to change women's cricket for the better. It's probably going to put a lot of pressure on other global organisations, or countries around the world, to lift - that's probably the best way that I'll put it,

"The most exciting thing about it is that it's happening and that there's some buzz around it. It's just going to be great for the game over here in India."

The 32-year-old further lauded the BCCI for announcing pay parity and said that the WIPL could help the Indian Women's team win many trophies in the next 10-15 years.

Meanwhile, the BCCI is expected to announce WIPL franchises on Wednesday, when the financial bids will take place. Several IPL teams and high-profile corporates are eying a stake in the much-awaited competition.
