In a significant development, the International Cricket Council has named the Women's T20I team of the year 2022.

The team comprises four Indians, three Australians and one player each from Pakistan, New Zealand, Sri Lanka and England.

Smriti Mandhana and Beth Mooney have been picked as the openers. Both these swashbuckling southpaws had an amazing 2022, making their marks in the Commonwealth Games and T20I bilaterals.

Sophie Devine, Ashleigh Gardner, Thalia McGrath have been chosen to bat at number three, four and five, respectively. While Devine scored 389 runs and picked 13 wickets, Gardner and McGrath had 216 and 435 runs to their names.

Asian supremacy is observed in the all-rounder's category, with Pakistan's Nida Dar and India's Deepti Sharma slotted at number six and seven, respectively. Dynamic Indian batter Richa Ghosh has been picked as the keeper of the team.

England's Sophie Ecclestone, who claimed 19 T20I wickets in 2022, has been picked as the lead spinner of the side. Alongside her, Sri Lanka's Inoka Ranaweera and India's Renuka Singh Thakur form a formidable bowling attack.
