Australia head into the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2023 as defending champions and will once again depend on their power-packed batting and disciplined bowling to repeat their 2020 title-winning run.

Meanwhile, opening batter Beth Mooney said that she expects the upcoming 2023 edition in South Africa to be one of the most tightly contested.

Mooney was the top-scorer in the 2020 Final between Australia and India and finished the competition as the leading run-getter (259).

The 2023 edition will take place between February 10 and 26, with Australia in Group A alongside New Zealand, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and South Africa.

Here's what Mooney said

"Any opportunity we get to be out in the middle is crucial coming into that T20 World Cup in South Africa. It's going to be one of the most tightly contested World Cups going around."

The 29-year-old registered her ODI career best on Saturday against Pakistan and will play the three-match T20I series beginning tomorrow.
