Despite piling  truckload of runs in the domestic circuit, Sarfaraz Khan was neglected once again when the India squad for the Border-Gavaskar series was announced recently.

For the past three Ranji seasons, the Mumbai batter has an average in excess of 100 and has been the best domestic batter by a country mile. Yet, the selectors ignored the domestic run-machine.

In an exclusive interview with OneCricket's Vimal Kumar, Sarfaraz talks about the India snub, his equation with coach Amol Muzumdar, and the bonding he shares with Suryakumar Yadav.

"My job is just to score runs wherever I play, and I doing my job. There’s no point of thinking about the uncontrollable, so I am focusing about scoring runs," Sarfaraz said to Vimal Kumar.

He added: "I am just do hardwork, I am follow my rituals. From last three years, I have bren working to stretch my purple patch as much as I can. The things that I did in 2019, I just try to repeat them. I try to replicate my frame of mind every time I go out to bat."

On his equation with Amol Muzumdar:

"I don’t talk about these things (not getting opportunities in Test squad) with him. Look, he’s a legend, he has scored so many runs, I have heard some many tales about him scoring on tough and challenging conditions.

He has also told me about them as I have got the opportunity to share the dressing room with him. He’s one of the best coaches, and he teaches so much about cricket."

The dynamic batter also shared his bonding with India sensation, Suryakumar Yadav.

"Surya is a good friend. Whenever we’re together in the team, we spend a lot of time with each other. I have learnt so much from him. He’s doing so well for India, and that’s an inspiration. He also had to wait for his time, but he has taken all his experience from domestic cricket to international level."

Sarfaraz will be next seen in action when Mumbai go head-to-head against Maharashtra in the next Ranji Trophy match.
