Bangladesh announce squad for Women's T20 World Cup; Under-19 stars called up

Bangladesh have announced their 15-member squad for the upcoming Women's T20 World Cup, scheduled to begin in February.

Nigar Sultana will lead the side, which includes a number of players coming up from the Under-19 side competing at the Under-19 T20 World Cup currently being held in South Africa.

Marufa Akter, Shorna Akter, Dilara Akter, and Disha Biswas will stay in South Africa to join the senior squad upon the conclusion of the Under-19 World Cup.

The four mentioned players have performed well consistently and have been duly rewarded with a call-up to the senior side.

The Bangladesh team will play two warm-up matches - against Pakistan (Feb 6), and against India (Feb 8), before they start their campaign against Sri Lanka on February 12.

The players will depart for South Africa on January 23, with the intention of getting acclimatise to the conditions. 

In the ongoing Under-19 World Cup, Bangladesh started their campaign with a promising win against Australia, bolstering the chances of several players to be included in the senior side.
