In what was a slow burner, MI Cape Town attained a victory over Paarl Royals by 13 runs in the 16th match of the SA20 2023.
Dussen plays saviour against Paarl's team effort
Opting to bowl first, Paarl Royals made utmost use of the conditions with Bjorn Fortuin wreaking havoc in the powerplay.
Although Grant Roelofsen and Rassie van der Dussen steadied the ship with their 63-run partnership, runs did not came thick and fast as MI Cape Town was in search of a blitzkrieg.
Dussen did not get much strike in the slog overs. However, George Linde made offense with his crucial 14-ball 24.
Dussen smoked a few boundaries in the end as his 49-run knock led the Cape Town to 142/9 in 20 overs.
Linde, Archer overpowers Royals
Jos Buttler's sensibility was its full might, however, the MI Cape Town bowlers, including the likes of Kagiso Rabada, Jofra Archer and Linde prevailed against Paarl.
While the Royals reeled at 30-4 in the seventh over, Jos Buttler and David Miller took the onus in the situation full of delicacy.
While the duo went along their business nicely, the runs moved around at rate of six. After Miller's dismissal, Buttler upped the ante but with no support from the other end, he also perished for a 58-ball 68, trying to take on Archer.
Eventually, Paarl Royals ended at 129-6 and lost by 13 runs.
