It was an outright victory for Sharjah Warriors who achieved their first points of the season against Dubai Capitals winning by 7 wickets, courtesy of Tom Kohler-Cadmore's scintillating ton in the 10th match of the ILT20 2023.

Root finally joins the party

After being asked to bat first, Dubai's opener Robin Uthappa fell cheaply, however, it was his partner and English superstar Joe Root who after three consecutive failures thumped a magnificent 80 unbeaten off 54 balls hitting eight fours and one six on the way.

He was supported well with Dan Lawrence and Rovman Powell who scored 34 and 44, respectively after an early hiccup where they were 15/2 inside 3 overs.

Chris Woakes and Naveen-ul-Haq scalped two each while Yusuf Pathan's last ball six helped the side to reach the total of 177 for four after the end of their 20 overs.

Kohler-Cadmore responds well

Chasing 178 for victory, Sharjah launched an early attack as they achieved 47 runs in 3.2 overs before losing Rahmanullah Gurbaz for 18. However, Kohler-Cadmore didn't held himself back and scored runs at a brisk rate of 225, playing 47 balls and scoring a marvellous 106 not out with six sixes to his name.

His knock ensured they were never under pressure even when they lost wickets of Dawid Malan and skipper Moeen Ali before the end of 9 overs. After that, it was just the batting dominance from the centurion and Joe Denly as the Warriors finished the game with more than five overs to spare.

Akif Raja and Chamika Karunaratne were the only wicket takers, but even they conceded too many runs as their economy was way above 10 runs per over.

This victory gave Warriors their first two points in the season after losing their first three games.
