6:23 PM: Series done and dusted! A comprehensive win for India by 8 wickets. As expected, this was a cakewalk and Team India showed the gulf of difference between the two sides. Rohit Sharma scored a quick-fire 51 off 50, and Gill played another fine knock of 40 to take India past the winning line.
Bowlers started the carnage, and the batters finished the job in the end.
Dull moment in the play
6:16 PM: Virat Kohli and his hate story against left-armer continues. Santner has two in two against VK in the series. This time he has got stumped. India now need 11 runs away from a thumping win over the Kiwis.

DG, 6:06 PM: India need just 30 off 204 balls. Surely not a difficult task for them? :p
Finally, NZ have a wicket!
5:58 PM: Rohit looks to play this across and gets thud on the front-pad. The wicket has come a bit too late, but at-least a moment of happiness for the visitors. And yes, King Kohli comes to the crease.

A fine innings from Rohit Sharma. Today he was the aggressor and he never allowed the bowlers to settle in properly. India getting closer to a series win.
5:48 PM: New Zealand have taken a review for lbw! Seems like the ball is going down the leg. Rohit goes for a block as the ball sneaks past the bat and strikes on the front pad. But I reckon the round the wicket angle is taking the ball down the leg side. And yes, the replays suggest that the ball was missing the leg stump by a country mile....

5:39 PM: Santner has been brought into the attack, and he gets smacked for two boundaries in the over. Rohit sweeps him for a four, while Gill could only edge him down to thirdman for a boundary.

5:24 PM: First change in bowling for the Kiwis, Blair Tickner comes into the attack.
DG, 5:13 PM: Rohit smashes it with disdain! He likes the short ball and has dispatched it over deep backward square. Lockie reverts with a 150.4 km/h delivery. He's breathing fire!!!

Arjun, 5:10 PM: Makes some room and slashes the cherry past covers - The Hitman Show has already started in Raipur.
DG, 5:05 PM: New Zealand need three or four quick wickets. That's the only way they can think of winning this match. Series loss on the cards for the Kiwis.
Arjun, 5:03 PM: First boundary of the innings, Rohit gets going. It was into his body, it was there to hit and Hitman pulls it off - just like he has been doing for ages now. India are at 6 for 0 after 2 overs.
4:57 PM: Close shout, Rohit Sharma survives off Lockie Ferguson in the first over. The bowler and the close-in fielders seemed interested but Latham goes against taking a DRS. The Kiwi skipper thought there was an inside-edge onto the pad, but there was nothing there.
4:54 PM: The Indian openers have come out for the chase. Should be a cakewalk, but you never know. Ferguson with the ball in hand.

4:10 PM: Kuldeep gets one!! Tickner plays the wrong line and gets hit on the pads. The appeal is given OUT. Tickner reviews and it's in hope. Ball tracking shows Three reds after there was no inside edge.
It has been embarrassing display from the bat by the New Zealanders. Washi Sundar cleans up the tail as the Kiwis get bundled out for 108 just in 34.3 overs. Three wickets for Mohammed Shami, while Hardik Pandya and Sundar had two apiece. Mohammed Siraj, Shardul Thakur and Kuldeep Yadav snapped one each.

4:03 PM: Drags it short and Ferguson couldn't connect with the attempted pull. This is certainly not the NZ we know. The fielder at deep mid takes a simple catch.
3:56 PM: One more down. New Zealand lose their eighth wicket. Washington Sundar strikes for the first time in the match. Glenn Philips goes back for 36 off 52 and it seems that things will get over soon in this innings. He is devasted with the shot he played.

3:50 PM: Hardik Pandya does the job for India!!!!! Mitchell Santner gets deceived by the change of pace by Pandya. A 47 runs partnership has been broken, and the umpire signals for a Drinks Break. So, from here on, India will be looking to take the three wickets quickly and keep the target to as low as possible.
3:46 PM: The hundred comes up for New Zealand. Considering they were five wickets down for 15 runs, it has been a good repair job by the New Zealand lower order.
3:40 PM: The seventh wicket partnership for New Zealand is approaching the fifty mark. They have a bit of batting left and can look to reach a total of around 150 at the least.
3:32 PM: The pitch has eased out a bit. But the issue is - NZ have already lost six wickets. Glenn Phillips, the last hope for the visitors.
3:30 PM: If Shami scalps one more then he will complete 400 international wickets. Meanwhile, the Tom Latham-led Kiwis are tottering at 76 for the loss of six wickets, with Phillips batting at 27 to safe his team's pride.

3:23 PM: The Chinaman drops Mitch Santner in his followthrough, before tumbling on the stumps at the non-striker's end. It was an easy one in comparison to the ones that have been taken today.

Shami comes and Shami strikes!
This is exceptional stuff from the Indian veteran. Perfect use of the bouncer, a surprise delivery and the dangerous Bracewell walks back. He fails to get the connection on the pull shot and the edge goes straight into the hands of the keeper.
Arjun, 3:02 PM: A cracking boundary down the track past long-off, NZ go past 50 after 18.2 overs.
DG, 2:58 PM: Spin for the first time today. Will the Kiwi batters attack him? An interesting battle coming up. Moreover, Shami is back in the field
Arjun, 2:50 PM: 200??? Let me first scratch my eyes, buddy. If they get to 200 runs from here, they will surely be winning this. But for that Michael Bracewell will again have to bat out of skin. Glenn Phillips, meanwhile, can obviously help him out in the act. But 200, nahh, man!!
DG, 2:49 PM: The seam movement is troubling the Kiwi batters. Anything around 200 should be a good total. What's your take on this, Arjun?

DG, 2:27 PM: This is very un-New Zealand type of cricket. They have gone defensive and have hardly tried to counter the Indian bowlers. We need a Bracewell special.
Arjun, 2:24 PM: End of the batting powerplay (Or should I say it was a bowling PP). Would we see a fightback from Latham. A writer's curse here!! Just when I said that, Latham decided to edge down a delivery from Shardul to Gill in the slips!! NZ - 15/5 at 10.3 overs. Can they go past 50 from here??

2:19 PM: A lovely caught and bowled by the Indian vice-captain, Hardik Pandya. Devon Conway has been left in shock. New Zealand have lost their fourth man inside the powerplay. They are crawling at 15 for after 9.4 overs.

2:16 PM: Mohammad Shami has walked off the field.
2:13 PM: First bowling change in the match. Shardul Thakur has been brought in the place of Shami. And he has been welcomed with a cracking drive past extra cover by Devon Conway on his second delivery of the day. This was NZ's first boundary of the day.

2:04 PM: Another one bites the dust! India are right on top of the Kiwis. A breath-taking opening spell from Shami and he gets another reward. Out-swinger, on a good length. Mitchell covers the stumps to negate the swing and ends up chipping it straight back to Shami from the toe-end. Shami gets very little time to react as he plucks it in his left hand.

1:56 PM: Shami and Siraj have been spot on with their lines and lengths. Both Nicholls anc Conway have found it difficult to score runs against these two bowlers. A jail-breaking shot is just round the corner.
Arjun, 1:47 PM: FYI, Shami is just 3 wickets shy of completing 400 wickets on the international stage.

1:34 PM: If you love fast bowling, this delivery sums up everything. Lovely seam presentation as Shami castles the stumps! Finn Allen departs without troubling the scoreboard. Length ball, jags back in from outside the off. It strikes Allen on the back pad and goes onto to disturb the timbers. Lovely stuff by Shami. (NZ 0-1)

Arjun, 1:27 PM: Also, what's your take on what Aakash Chopra has said what the Blackcaps not travelling with Kane Williamson, Trent Boult and Tim Southee - three of their best bets in this format - to India in a World Cup.
DG, 1:21 PM: We certainly don't have a quality sixth bowler. Hardik Pandya can bowl a maximum of four overs, and you can't count on him to complete the quota of 10 overs. With Bumrah coming back in (hopefully), the attack will look a lot better. Moreover, I am always worried about Hardik's injury prone body. What if he gets injured again? Do we have a proper replacement? I don't think so.
At the moment, India have only two wicket-taking bowlers - Siraj and Kuldeep.

Arjun, 1:20 PM: Yup, I second you on the Siraj pointer - but what about the others? So what I am saying is that India are lacking in the fourth, fifth and sixth bowlers. We saw our mainstay bowling struggle in the Hyderabad game; we saw this similar kind of thing happen against Mehidy Hasan and Mahmudullah in Bangladesh as well.
DG, 1:15 PM: Hi Arjun, a tiring day awaits us, but I am excited for this clash. Now coming to your question, I actually disagree with you. We have exciting talents in Siraj, Arshdeep, Umran, it's just about grooming these players. Look what happened to Siraj. He was backed by the management after Bumrah's injury and now he's the number 3 ranked bowler in ODIs. Similarly you need to back your players. Still feel the bowling is in safe hands.
But yes, one controversial opinion I'll give is that Shami doesn't deserve a place in the ODIs, purely based on his performance in the last two years.

Toss update
India have won the toss and Rohit Sharma has elected to bowl first. Seems like he was confused as to what decision to make. India are going with the same playing XI as the last match.
New Zealand are also going in with the same team. With the grass covering, I was expecting Doug Bracewell to come in.
Pitch Report
Even covering of grass, but looks a hard pitch, says Murali Kartik. First ODI game on this ground, so a tough choice for both the captains at the toss. The surface is hard and has a good bounce as well.
Mohammed Siraj has been India's go to bowler in ODIs as of late. It has been an incredible rise for Siraj. In the series opener, Siraj's family were present in Hyderabad and it was a special evening for the 28-year-old

Virat Kohli, who found the good-old Kohli back in the Sri Lanka series, is just 111 runs away from getting to 25,000 international runs. The former Indian skipper will become the second Indian and sixth overall batter to do so.
If Mohammed Shami scalps 4 wickets, he will complete 400 wickets across three formats. If he does so, he will become the ninth Indian bowler.
