Ruthless Capitals outclass Durban's Super Giants to win one-sided affair

Another dominant performance with the ball, followed by a batting carnage from Will Jacks helped Pretoria Capitals outclass Durban’s Super Giants in Match 15 of the ongoing SA20 League.

Capitals skittles Super Giants for 80

After electing to bat first, Durban’s Super Giants got off to a horrible start as Wayne Parnell managed to send back both the openers early in the powerplay. Anrich Nortje, bowling his first over, got smashed by Quinton de Kock over fine-leg for six but soon went on to win the battle as the pace ace uprooted de Kock’s off-stump to show him the way of the pavilion.

The hosts were struggling big time as they could only manage 23 on the board at the end of the powerplay with three of their top border back in the pavilion. Post powerplay, in-form Heinrich Klaasen along with Jason Holder tried to get the Super Giants back on track. Klaasen straightway took on Jimmy Neesham and hit him for three sixes.

In reply, the Capitals introduced spin with Adil Rashid and Senuran Muthusamy and the duo completely broke the back of Super Giants batting. De Kock and his men could not get back into the game and got bowled out for the lowest score in the tournament.

Rampaging Will Jacks took Capitals home

Chasing a paltry 81 target, Capitals also lost one of their openers early as in-form Phil Salt got out for golden duck. However, Will Jacks, as usual, was at his aggressive best and made a proper mockery of the Super Giants’ bowlers. The Capitals scored 70 in the first six overs and went on to chase the target with more than 12 overs remaining.

Will Jacks completed his half century in just 22 balls and could do no wrong today. In bowling perspective, Kyle Mayers did remove Salt early and almost got Theunis de Bruyn in the very next ball but obviously you cannot ask anything more with only 80 on the board.

It is a big loss for the Super Giants as their net run rate will be affected quite heavily. Meanwhile, Pretoria Capitals got the bonus point as well from this game and further strengthened their top-spot in the points table.

Brief Scores

Durban’s Super Giants: 80/10 (18.1 Overs)

Heinrich Klaasen 31 (24), Quinton de Kock 13 (15);
