Gulf Giants secured their third straight victory by prevailing over Dubai Capitals by 101 runs in Match 8 of the ILT20 2023 at Sharjah.

Vince propels Giants to a big total

Batting first, Giants got off to a quick start with Rehan Ahmed, but the youngster was soon dismissed for 12 off 8. However, James Vince was impressive with his composure and ball-striking abilities to stitch a partnership with Chris Lynn.

It was Akif Raja, who broke the 82-run stand by dismissing Vince for 78 off 46.  In the next ball, the right-arm pacer stunned David Wiese with a ball, which took out the middle-stump.

However, Shimron Hetmyer delivered a knock of 37* off 19 balls, which helped Giants to post a total of 181.

Wiese, Jordan skittle Capitals

In reply, Capitals got off to a bad start with the dismissals of Robin Uthappa, Chirag Suri and Rovman Powell, courtesy of Wiese.

Rehan Ahmed got the better of his fellow countryman Joe Root (20), who was looking to accelerate. In the end, only Dasun Shanaka could contribute 23, as Chris Jordan took the wickets of Fabian Allen and Chamika Karunaratne.

Capitals were dismissed for a total of 80, and lost by 101 runs.
