Australia's Mitchell Marsh is hoping to recover in time for the much anticipated white-ball series against India in March.

The dynamic all-rounder had issues with his ankle during the T20 World Cup 2022, and was later ruled out of the Big Bash League as he underwent a surgery.

The 31-year-old has started the recovery process and is targeting a return back to the national squad for the India tour.

“First running session today. Felt really nice to get back to that. It was pretty easy but quite tough. I’ve got a bit of work to do. Hopefully (I’ll) be back playing in five or six weeks," Marsh told ‘Fox Cricket’.

“I’m looking forward to that. It’s the last domestic one dayer for us and then I’ll parachute in for another final which will be great," he said, adding that he’s eyeing a return for WA’s final one day clash this domestic season.

Maxwell added that he is assessing the situation week by week and it seems unlikely that he'll return for the Melbourne Stars before the BBL concludes.

“We’ve got the Test tour of India coming up and I was super motivated to get myself ready for that. Whether or not I’m on that, only time will tell," Maxwell said.

Australia's tour of India starts on February 9, with the Test matches taking place first. The ODI leg starts from March 17.
