Aditya Sarvate produced a remarkable bowling performance as Vidarbha pulled off an unbelievable win over Gujarat on Day 3 of Round-6 match in the ongoing Ranji Trophy season.

The left-arm spinner grabbed 6-17 in the second innings, helping Vidarbha to wrap up Gujarat for 54 runs and win the game by 18 runs. They defended a target of 73, the lowest total ever defended in Ranji Trophy history.

Earlier, after electing to bat first Vidarbha got bundled out for just 74 in the first innings, their lowest ever total against Gujarat in Ranji trophy. In reply, Gujarat scored 256, taking a 182-run lead in the first innings.

Following that, Vidarbha, who was eyeing a long batting in the second innings, could only manage 254 runs in their second innings and set a target of 73 late on Day 2. Chasing 73, Gujarat lost Priyesh Patel in the very first over and ended Day 2 with 6 for 1.

Gujarat lose 9 wickets in a session

On Thursday, Day 3, Gujarat looked to be cruising to an easy win as they were left with a comfortable task of chasing 67 runs with nine wickets in hand. Vidarbha had a perfect start as Sarvate removed first innings half centurion Aarya Desai early with only 17 runs on the board. Siddharth Desai, who was showing great resistance with 18 runs off 47 deliveries was soon sent back by Yash Thakur with a run-out and Gujarat were 3 down with 26 on the board.

Following the run-out of Siddharth, it all went downhill for Gujarat as they could not stand out the early pressure from Sarvate-led Vidarbha spin attack and lost the next seven wickets for just 28 runs. Sarvate, who finished with an 11-wicket haul in the match, was easily the pick of the bowlers for Vidarbha. Harsh Dubey also contributed with three wickets.

Vidarbha now has three wins in six games and are currently placed second in their Group with 19 points, leveling with Punjab who are yet to get a result against Madhya Pradesh from this round.
