New Zealand stand-in skipper, Tom Latham has showered praise on centurion Michael Bracewell, who scored a stunning century under immense pressure and almost sealed the win for the Kiwis.

Chasing 350, India reduced the visitors to 131 for 6, and looked all set for a comfortable win. But Bracewell had some other plans as he bludgeoned the Indian bowlers all around the park and smashed a 78-ball 140, laced with ten sixes.

Latham proud of Bracewell

"It was an amazing innings from Bracewell. From 131/6 to come and play an innings like that, and to put our team in a situation to win the game, it's outstanding. Obviously disappointed that we didn't cross the line but it was special. When you are chasing and coming at a pressure situation, to give us a chance to win that game was special," Latham said after the game.

The Kiwi skipper also applauded the Indian bowlers who used the cutters to their advantage and made life difficult for the batters.

"I think it probably gripped a bit more under lights, and India used a lot more cutters and it worked for them. Bracewell batted well and his partnership with Santner was very good to see, Latham added.

Talking about the Bracewell-Santner partnership, the duo came in at a tricky situation and added 162 for the seventh wicket.
