Sarfaraz Khan scored another century, this time against Delhi in the Round-6 match of the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2022-23 season at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

Sarfaraz, batting at five, smashed his third century of the season and bailed Mumbai out of trouble after a shaky start in the first session.

Mumbai lost four wickets, including Prithvi Shaw and Ajinkya Rahane and were limited to 91 for four at Lunch. Sarfaraz needed a partner to complement and help him rebuild Mumbai's innings. He was then joined by Shams Mulani, as the duo added 144 runs for the sixth wicket.

He completed his century in 135 balls and  went onto score 125 off 155 balls, taking Mumbai past 250 runs.

The 25-year-old now has 556 runs in eight innings this season at an average of 111.20. He already scored 162 against Tamil Nadu earlier this month and an unbeaten 126 against Hyderabad in December.

Moreover, the dynamic batter was also the highest run-scorer in Ranji Trophy last season with 982 runs at a staggering average of 122.75, including four centuries and a top score of 275 against Saurashtra.

Despite being an absolute run-machine in domestic cricket, Sarfaraz finds himself away from the Indian Test squad.

The selectors did not include the Mumbai batter in the recently announced Test squad for the first two Tests against Australia. So, there was no better way he could have replied but by keeping the runs coming like he did today.

Sarfaraz’s first-class average now climbs up to 81.5, which is only behind Sir Don Bradman’s 95.14 in the history of first-class cricket.
