Virat Kohli surpasses MS Dhoni in a batting milestone

On Sunday, hosts India created history, defeating Sri Lanka by the biggest-ever margin (317 runs) in ODIs. 

Batting first, the Men in Blue posted a mammoth 390 on the board and later defended it easily, as their bowling unit led by Mohammed Siraj bundled out the Lankans for just 73 runs in 22 overs. 

Legendary Indian batter Virat Kohli played a crucial role in the team's victory, hammering 166 runs off only 110 balls. Besides completing his 46th ODI ton, Kohli surpassed former Indian captain MS Dhoni in the list of the highest run-scorers against Sri Lanka in ODI cricket. 

As a result, the talismanic batter is currently behind only the greatest Sachin Tendulkar on this list.

Kohli, who went through a lean patch in 2020 and 2021, made a remarkable comeback in the Asia Cup 2022. Then, he also had an impressive T20 World Cup Down Under, and his twin centuries in the Sri Lankan series must have relieved the Indian fans in this World Cup year.
