In a major boost to the Indian Test team, star all-rounder, Ravindra Jadeja is set to feature in the ongoing Ranji Trophy for Saurashtra in a bid to prove his match fitness ahead of the Border-Gavaskar series.

The all-rounder has been named in the 17-member Test squad for the Australia series that begins next month, but his inclusion is subject to fitness ahead of the series.

Jadeja had to leave the Asia Cup 2022 after sustaining a knee injury, and he eventually got operated on the same. Currently, he is recovering in the National Cricket Academy (NCA), and the selectors have taken a gamble in naming him in the squad for the first two Tests.

The selectors have clearly stated that Jadeja will be considered for selection only if NCA gives him a clearance certificate. As per reports, the 34-year-old had resumed bowling and batting earlier this week, but has to clear the fitness test in order to be selected for competitive cricket.

The Australia tour of India commences from February 9, with the first Test taking place in Nagpur.
