The Irish bounced back in the second T20I to square-up their three-match series at Harare. The visitors shot out the Zimbabweans for a paltry total, and hunted it down with couple of deliveries still intact.

Ross Adair finishes up the job after Graham Hume wrecked hosts batters

Ireland captain Andy Balbirnie won the toss and opted to field first. His decision was backed by his bowlers, particularly Harry Tector and Graham Hume, with the two sharing five wickets between them.

Hume inflicted much of the damage through his three-fer, claiming the key wickets of Craig Ervine, Ryan Burl and Wellington Masakadza. The Zimbabweans were eventually shot out for 144, with skipper Ervine providing a notable contribution with his 42.

In response, Balbirnie scored 33 out of the 48-run partnership he shared with fellow opener Ross Adair. Meanwhile, Adair himself struck a thunderous 65 off just 47 balls, smacking two of them for boundaries and four of them for towering sixes.

For his failure with the bat, Zimbabwe all-rounder Ryan Burl made amends with the ball by striking twice in the middle stages of the game. However, the Irish still zoomed past the finishing line in the final over, thus levelling the series with a match to spare.

The two sides will now clash at the same venue in the third T20I on January 15.

Brief scores:

Zimbabwe: 144 (20)

Craig Ervine 42 (40), Innocent Kaia 25 (14)
Graham Hume 3-17, Harry Tector 2-22

Ireland: 150-4 (19.4)

Ross Adair 65 (47), Andy Balbirnie 33 (31)
Ryan Burl 2-26, Tendai Chatara 1-26

Ireland won by six wickets, levels series 1-1
