IND vs SL, 3rd ODI: Preview, Prediction and Fantasy Tips

On Sunday, hosts India will lock horns with Sri Lanka in the final ODI of the three-match series in Thiruvananthapuram. India have already grabbed the series, having an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series.

Team Preview: India

India have been clinical with both bat and ball so far. The brand new opening duo of Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill has ensured great starts for them, while Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul have stepped up.

Hardik Pandya and Axar Patel have also showcased his all-round prowess, contributing handsomely on both batting and bowling fronts.

However, the biggest positive for India has been their bowling unit. While Mohammed Siraj has been exceptional with the new ball, Umran Malik and Kuldeep Yadav have impressed everyone with their wicket-taking abilities in the middle overs. So, moving on to this clash, the Men in Blue are high on confidence to accomplish a whitewash over the visitors.

Team Preview: Sri Lanka

On the other hand, Sri Lanka have been patchy with both bat and ball, which has led to their debacle in the series.

Despite getting starts, their top order batters have failed to convert those into match-winning scores. Avishka Fernando's technical shortcomings have been exposed, while Charith Asalanka and Kusal Mendis have been inconsistent.

Dhananjaya de Silva and Dasun Shanaka, who played brilliantly in the first ODI, succumbed to single-digit scores in the subsequent fixture.

More importantly, the Lankan batters should enter the field with a counter for Kuldeep Yadav, who they fell prey to in Kolkata.

Talking about their bowling, Wanindu Hasaranga has been a major disappointment, failing to provide the visitors with timely breakthroughs.

So, down and out, Sri Lanka will need inspirational performance from their core members to avoid a shambolic clean-sweep.

Match Details

Date and Time: January 15, 01.30 PM IST
Venue: Greenfield international stadium, Thiruvananthapuram
Live Streaming: Star Sports Network and Hotstar

Pitch Report: The surface at the venue will offer marginal seam movement early on, but will become drier and assist spinners later in the afternoon. However, the seamers will get some additional assistance under the lights. And with dew not being around, chasing might be difficult. So, the toss-winner will likely opt to bat first and reach something around 270-280.

Predicted XIs

India might bring Arshdeep Singh in place of Mohammed Shami in this game. Washington Sundar could also get a match in place of Hardik Pandya. Also, as they have won the series, India might slot Ishan Kishan at the top, asking Suryakumar Yadav to bat at five.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka might replace Avishka Fernando with Sadeera Samarawickrama.
