Shan Masood to be named Babar Azam's successor in ODI and Test Cricket

The Pakistan Cricket Board is reportedly considering replacing Babar Azam with Shan Masood as the captain of the Men's ODI and Test teams.

If Cricket Pakistan's report is correct then Masood would soon be replacing the all-three format captain in the two formats.

Pundits and renowned media personnel aren't pleased with the Pakistan team's performances in the longest format under the leadership of Babar at home.

Babar is regarded as one of the best batters to come out of the nation, however; his leadership has been tested times and again in tough conditions, despite him leading the team to the finals of the T20 World Cup and Asia Cup contested recently.

In 2022-23, Babar only not failed to lead Pakistan to win a series against Australia, England and New Zealand - but his team couldn't even win a single Test match.

Babar's batting calibre during the period was appreciated night and day, but those runs were never enough for Pakistan to win games.

Even earlier in the month, reports were surfacing that the Men in Green could see three different captains across all formats.

Although, changing captains in a World Cup year could backfire for them.

Babar and Masood are part of Pakistan's Playing XI for the third and final ODI against New Zealand, where both of them departed on 4 and 0 respectively.

Masood, meanwhile, bagged a spot across formats after having a successful stint with Derbyshire in England last summer.
