The Paarl Royals are set to host the Joburg Super Kings in match number four of the ongoing SA20 2023 season. 

The contest, which marks the second match for both sides, will be played at Paarl’s Boland Park. 

The Royals lost their opening game to MI Cape Town at the latter’s home ground on January 10. In the match, the David Miller-led side only managed to put up 142-7, which the MI Cape Town successfully overhauled with more than four overs to spare.

The Royals will be looking to upstage the Joburg Super Kings to register their opening points of the season; however, their in-form opponent recently trashed the Durban Super Giants in their opening encounter.

The Kings chartered 190-6, despite struggling at 27-4 at one stage. Star all-rounders Donavon Ferreira and Romario Shepherd slammed sparkling contributions in the death and formed an 87-run stand within six overs.

They later restricted the Super Giants to 174 to register a 16-run win. As a result, they are now placed at number three on the season’s points table.

The surface at Paarl’s Boland Park is known to be conducive for pacers. The venue has staged only one T20I affair, which saw England chase down South Africa’s 146-run total with a ball to spare in 2020. The upcoming contest marks the first-ever SA20 match at the venue.
